Characters, Loaction.

Theses are pictures of my loaction and characters.

Location: Bread and chesse lane - hertfordshire

This location is near where all of the group live and as you can see by the pictures its a great location for a horror film due to the woods and long mysrtiouse lanes. In the dark it makes the attmospher very scary and even while filming i was quet on edge.

Charcaters (down-up): Leanne,Conor,Jade.

With the two main girl charcters we wanted them to look toally normal and for them to look like there going on a night out on the twon and have taken a short cut through the lane. There good firends in real life and there part of the team so i would be able to relie on them to turn up to the shots and do there best as it is there media work aswell. They also have great acting skills as we tested before to make sure they can portray a good screaming and crying face!

For the filmimg they will be in party clothes adding to the story line showing where there going or where they have come from.

The progtaganist is played by conor who again is a normal teen but while filming played the attacker very well getting into character. He was a close friend to one of the main charcaters and was reible to turn up to shots aswell.

Group story board.

This is my story board that we done as a gorup. We all had diffrent ideas but someone came up with the idea of baseing it on a true story then we remembered the story of a car going down a dark lane and comming across a pram in the middle of the road. From this idea we brain stormed what could possible happen,camra angles and also music and tension build up. After alot of thought we drew our story board. This is our first few shots, as you cant see the pictures and writing with it im going to explain the shoot and why we done that spersifc shot.

1. With our opening shot we wanted to show the loaction and where the characters are and this medium shot suited our ideas. We wanted the camera on the floor so it would give a diffrent effect and would also sort of look uo at the car as it went past. The reason we had the car zomming past very fast was to give an indication that the characters were younge and going somewhere quickly. We wanted the sound affects to be the cars speeding past and also leaves to fly past to get the effect

2.With the next shot we wanted to enforce the peviouse shot by having a high angle shot of a 20mph speed limt, and its very obviouse that the car is going over the speed limit, again enfoving the age of the characters being younge without even seeing them yet. With the sound effect we wanted to only hear the car going past.

3.With the first shot the audience see of the characters we wanted them to know that there two younge,fun girls going out fir the night. The mes on scene is very dressy clothes,lots of makeup and big hair. The sound affects we wanted to hear was very loud music and thegirls laughing and singing to the music. By having this shot it makes sure that the trailer has some sort of turning point as the first few shots are happy fun shots.

4.The next very quick cut goes into the car driving past but a beer can being thrown out the window and rolling down the road for one second. The reason for this shot was to give a diffrent angle to the trailer and give the audience something diffrent to look at quickly instead of just medium shots of the characters and car.

5. The next shot has a quick cut into the girls looking very confussed at obviously looking at somthing outside of the car infront of them. This is the start of the turning point in the trailer as the music goes quieter and the shots are looking so happy.

6. We wanted the audience to see what the characters were seeing but instead of just showing them what they were seeing in a medium shot we decided to have the camera behind them to make the audience feel as if there in the car with them. The lighting would also be good as the characters and the seats that there in would be black silouets buts the object infront would be visable.

7. We wanted the audeince to get a diffrent perspective on the pram and also to give a veiw on what the rpam is seeing so this shot of the the camera looking over the pram into the car with the headlights on is a realy good shot.

8. With this next shot its a very simple quick cut showing that the girls are getting out the car to see the pram. The reason we wanted to show that they were getting out of the car was because if we didnt show this then the whole story and trailer would not make sense as it went on.

9.We wanted to enforce this with a shot of the girls getting out the car from a midum fading shot but withone of the girls leaving there door open. This is a very important shot to the trailer.

10.The next shoot is a low angle shot looking up at the girls as they pull away the cover on the pram to reval whats inside. The music will build up and make the audience more tense before they pull bacl the cover and then the music cuts out stright away to revale thats theres nothing there.

11. As the girls walk back laughing the music dies down and all you can hear is the girls walking and the engine running, but buliding tension, relaxing it then buliding it up again keeps the audience intrested.

12. The next still shot is the shot from outside the car looking in from the back window. As the girls get in the car a dark show of a man pops up in the back seats. This is the turning point in the film but doesnt give to much away.

13. With the the next 12 shots they will be very quick cuts that are cut in time with your horror music. This shot the camera will be running with the legs as they run giving the effect that the audience are running with them.

14. The next close up shot will show the characters acting skills and also there emotion or shock. Again this cut will be very short.

15. The reason we wanted to have a quick cut with and floor camera angle was that it gives the audience something diffrent instead of just the victims and protaganists face and body either running or looking shocked. With the shoe running over the keys shows the characters running away without time to pick her keys up indicating paniking.

16. The high angle shot makes us feel that the victum doesnt mean much as were looking down on her banging on the door trying to run away.

17. This shot slows down the trailer just a little as she turns her head very slowly in a close up angle. Her face shows a shocking/scared emoiton. This is enfoced by the next shot.

18. With the lighting on this very quick cut shot it is blacked out and all you can see is a sillohet. The reasoin for this is that we didnt want to show too much as we wouldnt know the audience waching but we wanted to show the basic idea of what was happening in a clever way.

19. With this shot we wanted to show the emontion in the film and how it was not just affecting the progtaganist but alsoi the victims and this long shot is perfect. The way she is gurled up in a corner shows the audeince that she is scared and upset which could mean anything and we want to know why.

20. Again we wanted to play with light and mystery so useing the light to create a blacked out shiloet and with this high angled shot gives us the mystrey of who this person is but also gives them automatic power this the shot angle.

21. The shot on the floor gives the victum less power and looking helpless as she vrys on the floor of what wilk be dirt, the quick cut will give us a glimps of the fact that there might be no hope in the film.

22. the shot with one of the character hiding and us knowing that the attacker is there makes the audience on edge and just as something is going to progress we cut to the next shot giveing mystry and supense.

23. The cut will go into a black out where the film title will fade in and out. The title's font,colour and size will suit the trailer and film. So this will proberly be white like car headlights and in a font that looks a bit like trees.

24. In a trailer you always remember the first and last shot fo to give the audience a cliff hanger we wanted a main character to be caught and looking scared and as the attackers hands come over and then cuts out to leave the audience on edge and wanting more.

My initial storyboard.

With my first intials ideas i had the idea of not telling the sotry stright away but jumping into the fast pass part of the film then having a flash back to the beginning of the film. The reason i had the idea to do this was because 99% of film trailers seem to tell and story and build the tension to the end. With theses ideas i thoughrt of having the tension first to make the audeince on edge from the first second of the trailer then relax the tension to make the audience think thats all that will happen but bring them back into the film but having the last shot and last 10seconds on edge again. The whole idea of film trailer: Camera angles,shots and genral idea is not very creative or imagantive but that can be changed and this is my own idea not my groups, who will have alot of input into the trailer aswell as myself.

After looking at everyones ideas as a groupe we started talking about the whole idea of our own film trailer and came up with theses ideas.

Camera angels:With horror the camera angles must make the victim looks innocent while the protaganist looks un-known and scary. Theses can be done by low and high angle shots. Me and my group spoke about the equpitment needed and the tri-pod was the best fitting. Also scanning/panning shots can keep into the genre showing the scary location

Dialoge: In most Horror film trailers there is not much dialoge as they can tell the audience everything they want by using Mise-en-scene and what you show in the shots. So like typicall horror films we will not be adding dialodge as challenging the conventions for such a seriouse film trailer might ruin it.

Editing: With the editing we wanted to make it are professional as possible so we watched alot of diffrent horror trailers and also other genre trailers to see how they differ. We all decied that we wanted it to start of with alot of tension but slow paced to tell part of the story line but not give alot away. Then we want the turning point half way through the trailer from slow paced to fast editing action and alot of drama. This turning point is in every horror film trailer as it draws the audeince in and into wanting to see more of the film. The editing of the shots will be cut into the music again to make it look more professional.

Mise-En-Scene: Through the mise-en-scene of our film trailer we are hoping to show diffrent characters with diffrent angels, lighting.

Setting/Location: Location will be down a lane called 'Bread and cheese' which is quite scary in the day and will be very mood setting at night when we film down there. It is very quiet so there wont be much trouble using the whole of the road.

Genre

Genre is where a type of art,culture or film is put into catorgrys by what is in the setting,dialoge,charcters,mis-en-scene,storyline and also the clothes that they are wearing. Theses diffren genres can be totally diffrent or can be very simular but are changed into diffrent catorageys by simply things.

Adventure: Mostly exicting shots around the world with a story line of a chase or some sort of rise and fall drama. For example 'Tresaure island'

Animation: Films which are either drawn,painted,illastrated or photographyed frame by frame. Films like theses are mostly used for childrens entertainment. e.g Toy Story

Biography: Is a true life story told by another person and normally this would be in a book but it can also be told by film. For exmple 'Socail Network'

Crime: Films that can be created from history gangsta's or modern day gangsta's. The story lines mosty go around the bases or muder,bank robbing or plotting againt the law. For example The shawshank redemtion.

Drama: Theses are serious plots that portry real life situations which make the audience want to watch more and keep them on the edge of their seats from saddness to happyness. For example A time to remember.

Film Noir: Old films in black and white. Most of the storylines show a dark negative outcome such as muder and robbery. They are also mostly set around young handsome men who are captured by the beauty of a woman who turns out to be so innocet than she looks

Action: This genre is very much like adventure but a little more seriouse. They have alot more engery,high thrills and more speical effects. For example fast and furiouse.

Romance: Films based around love and taking the audienceinto the palm of there hands with happyness,sadness and fanstay. These films are very popular with woman. For example Romeo and Juliett.

Romantic Comedy: This type of genre is excatly the same as Romace but instead of it being so seriously told there is an element of comdey in there aswell yet still emiontals gets the audience.

Horror: To scary and in some cases scar you for life. The more mystry and un-known the better. With a sotry line that will keep you on the edge of your seat this is not a genre of film to be taken easy. For example SAW.

Out of all the genre's of films to do a trailer of id love to do horror as there is so many ideas i can take and expland from.
